Cables are one of the most demanding tools we use in our daily life. Extension cords make this problem worse. Because the sockets are fixed, our cables are often damaged at the connection points and our electronic devices deteriorate over time. This was the problem that designers So Young Kim and Sung Ick Jo identified, and their solution came in Ball-tab format.
Each of the four balls is placed in a slot, in which they are fitted to a long body. The balls are securely held in place using magnets. Power is transferred to them using wireless charging. By enabling the socket to rotate in almost any direction, a flexible extension cable form is provided.
The faint light emitted by the warm-colored LEDs indicates when the socket has been used. In addition, balls can be reversed when not required, to prevent dust from accumulating in the sockets! What a different perspective on a tool we frequently use on a daily basis… Simple, elegant, ingenious and useful!
The Ball-tab is a Winner of the K-Design Award for the year 2018.
