One of the most exciting upgrades coming is to Messages. After the launch, you’ll be able to edit and unsend your messages. This will help users to avoid any unwanted situations.
Another change coming is to your lock screens. With new updates, you’ll be able to customize your lock screens, changing fonts, colors, photo adding, and even adding complications (snippets of info of your apps).

Apple announced that iOS 16 is coming this fall; this free update will be available on iPhone 8 and newer releases. Which includes:

What about people using iPhone 7 and older?
If you are a proud owner of the iPhone 7 or an older version, you will miss out on the updates, but your phone will work just fine. Although in time, you might notice your favorite apps demanding you to upgrade to iOS 16 and also be at increased risk of facing a security breach.
So if you want to be able to use your phone at its total capacity and avoid security issues, you might want to check on a newer version of an Apple phone.
